DeepJournal is operated by TaoApex Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in the United Kingdom (Company No. 16862192). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the DeepJournal mobile application and related services (the "Service").

1. What DeepJournal Is and Is Not

DeepJournal is a private journaling and self-reflection tool. It stores journal entries, identifies long-term themes, and produces AI-assisted summaries and suggestions.

DeepJournal is not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, counseling, or crisis intervention. AI-generated content is informational and may be inaccurate. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services, 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or local equivalents.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email, display name, and authentication metadata (Supabase), including provider (email, Google, Apple).
  • User content: journal session text, optional voice recordings, generated summaries, structured memories, insights, and action suggestions.
  • Device and push metadata: APNs device tokens for optional reminders.
  • Subscription state: tier, transaction identifiers, and entitlements from RevenueCat and Apple.
  • Product analytics: aggregated, de-identified event counters (onboarding, feature usage, crashes). We do not send journal text to analytics products.
  • Operational metadata: timestamps, request/trace IDs, HTTP status codes, errors for security and reliability.

We do not collect biometric identifiers, contacts, advertising identifiers (for cross-app tracking), or precise continuous location for advertising.

3. How We Use Information

  • Authenticate you and maintain your account
  • Store entries; generate AI-assisted summaries, memories, insights, and suggestions for you
  • Send optional notifications you enable
  • Verify subscriptions and entitlements
  • Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and protect the Service
  • Diagnose crashes and improve stability
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests

We do not use your journal entries, memories, or insights to train generative AI models (including Google Gemini). Where a third-party model provider processes content to generate a response, that processing is governed by the provider's terms and is not used by TaoApex to train models.

We share the minimum information necessary for each provider to perform its function.

5. Retention

  • Account and journal content: until you delete the account or specific content
  • Backups and deletion propagation: up to 30 days after deletion request in normal operations
  • Operational logs: typically ≤ 90 days unless needed for security investigations
  • Subscription records: as required by Apple and applicable tax/accounting law

6. Your Rights and Controls

  • Access, correct, export, or delete personal data where applicable law provides those rights
  • In-app: Settings → Privacy → Delete Account

We respond within timelines required by applicable law (typically 30 days).

7. International Transfers

Processing may occur in the UK, EU, and US. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Children

You must meet the minimum age in the Terms of Service (at least 13, or higher where required). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Material changes may also be communicated in-app.
